Yep, at first I wanted to make a very depth analyse of both engines, but the heart spoke ! Also, I want to be clear, I had 2 cars powered by the 4AGE and only 1 by the DOHC ZC... With this in mind, I let you enjoy this video, thank you !

Hi guys, it's not this often I write something about other cars here, but THIS... Is what can be done with the good old unloved DOHC ZC engine...

 Source: Yoshiaki Inoue

Quite popular around Osaka, Yoshiaki Inoue instead of swapping for a B or a Ksomething, decided to stick to the Vtecless long stroke DOHC D Series. A pair of GrA Mugen cams, high compression pistons, 4 throttle intake, a custom made titanium exhaust system and a rewritten OEM ECU later, here you are,183,8hp ! (186,5ps)

 Source: Aslan Inc

Yoshiaki Inoue is a customer of what was still called Try Box when I visited them in Japan, they are now the builders of the fastest EVER front wheel drive car at Tsukuba TC2000. They have swapped the heavy sun roof from Inoue San EF3 for a 25kg lighter carbon fiber version and built the Dohc ZC.

Here is what it sounds like on a cold start. Inoue San told me it was smooth when hot thought. Now we would love to hear it at full chat !

Just before heading to the dyno and disassembling the car for a proper maintenance this winter, here is a little "Walk around" off the Civic.

Hi guys, in this video I told you how my track week-end went, now it's time to share with you few footage from this event !

Honda Euro Meet :
Many of you asked why I wasn’t at this event as I drive a Honda. I think the Ammoprod paper he’s been “Internet killed” for, a couple years ago answered for me. Even if this event is cool, I think you need to open your mind to other stuff, my Civic wouldn’t be what it is right now if I’ve only made the HEM. Then, I really felt the need for going back to my roots with the guys my track day addiction came with. They saw the car barely running, braking down (many times) on track, they saw it evolving with my driving as well, so this week-end was the perfect occasion to see them again ! On top of that, I won’t say you can’t find great cars/drivers at the HEM (and at the Classic Days), but you have to recon that Objectif Circuit guys are from another level and a great motivation to push harder on improving itself and the car. No showing off, no prices, just fun and lap-times as a “streetcredibilitymeter”.

Lurcy-Lévis Matsuri:
Yes ! This was a Matsuri (Festival in Japanese) two days, open pit line and fun ! After making a long 500 km trip down to Lurcy-Lévis it was time to have a well deserved pizza, have a chat with P.G and to install the tents.

Yes, tents, as two hotel nights are almost the cost of two full tank gas and as the showers of the track are just perfect !

The Saturday morning, after the mandatory briefing it was time to hit the track ! Excited like child I just cranked the car to let it warm, sadly something was wrong… Something has eaten the back fuel line hose. I still believe it’s a rodent or something. Few minutes after, some guys with a 300 hp+ FWD Celica coming from the last Madmax and a black S2K just gave me a Silicone hose (not the ideal for fuel lines !) by the way it made the job for the week-end. Then the firsts laps were strange, as you’re not as confident as you were in the past, but laps after laps, you start finding your marks again, then hitting the corners with one more gear and finally switching to the full attack mode ! On Sunday, the temperature rose up to 36°C and I finally found someone to play with. A slightly tuned Lotus Elise on R888's, we made many laps nose to tail in traffic and it was just AWESOME ! Unfortunately the cam switched off, and I don’t have this footage on cam. We were lapping in 1 min 17,07 at the time, through some traffic which is almost 1 second better than my best laptime here ! Sure the aero upgrades, new geometry and the mandatory maintenance has something to do in this improvement. I’m still convinced that I could go in the 16’s, but I don’t have any serious timing proof to prove it as my Alfano was broken… As I was quicker than the Lotus in the high speed corners and I felt the rear was way too much stuck on the ground in the slower section, I’m sure that working on the geometry or switching to 185 tires on the rear (205 now) could make the car quicker as I was really struggling in the slow section. Surely because I set the car for Magny-Cours F1. By the way, that was still a great  great week-end as you can see in the video.

Dealing with the Police:
As I’ve been in contact with 3 Policemen during the week-end without a single fine, here are 3 tips to deal with cops when you’re pulled over with your track car.

How to deal with cops when you’re pulled over and “slightly tuned” ?

1. Smile !
Smiling is a natural defense that shows “Look I’m cool !” and shows your good faith.

2. Act “normal”.
Drive your track toy like you’re driving a DCi Clio to your work within the speed limits, so it’s another way to show your good faith. It’s like saying: “Look, I’m driving like a grandma, I only feel like Hamilton on the track I’m going right now sir!” No revving, no useless accelerations etc.

3.  Have your administration papers OK.
If you have all your administration valid, it’s another point they can’t bother you for! On top of that, if your insurance was just activated for the week-end, and you got a mail (and PDF from your company) that proves it, it’s a win win ! They see you’re racecar is only allowed to roll for the week-end, so it’s an exceptional event.

If you follow these three tips, there’s only few chances to have problems. Remember, they are humans and some of them are also passionate by cars (not all) but some ! I’ve been pulled over few times just because they wanted to know “What the hell is this car ?!”. Good luck guys !

Honda Euro Meet :

It was way back in 2008 when the first privately developed space launch vehicle (called Space X Falcon 1) successfully made orbit and when the first time the price of petroleum hit the 100$ per barrel and... It also was the very first time my little 1976 Honda Civic was out on the street with it's new heart.

After making the engine start, I've decided to wait for the night to get a first proper ride and in order to compete with potential issues (that didn't occurred) I asked to my friend Fab to come with me in my lovely "Ghetto Concerto" as a support vehicle. Indeed the Civic look was very "Sleeper", and I have to say, I still enjoy it a lot !

As you will hear in the video, the exhaust was loud ! At the time, the diameter was a constant cone from the header to the final exit made in a 0,8 mm sheet of steal. The initial diameter was 45 mm from the Supersprint header and finished at 60mm after the silencer. From the intake side, it was a little bit simpler as a big single velocity stack was in charge to feed the engine in a rather fresh air. This same part is still at the same place, but now gets fresh filtered air from the custom air-box.

In 2008 you had to put some kind of music in your video because "life style" you know and as it's the original unedited footage, you have to deal with it ! That was probably what I used to enjoy in the garage at this time, and glad these songs are so "underground" that even the "Youtube Copyright thing" didn't found it.

Please enjoy !

One week ago, somebody brought me this little baby. Someone made a pretty interesting swap for him but unfortunately the car isn't running at all for some reasons...  Instead of spending lot of time to find out why, he brought me the car to make the job done. Actually, to rebuild it all in order to be reliable.

Finally, I had the time to see what was going on under the hood to have a first idea...

And even if the engine managed  to run, I still don't know how ! There is no more fuel return hose to the tank.

Neither the MAP Sensor that I've found in a box full of wire  in the cabin!

As you can see here, there is some work to do to make it clean and reliable.

But also... much more SAFE !

And this is one of the reason no gear could be engaged...

This was just a preview of why this will by a busy and exciting winter ! Stay tuned !
Because it wasn't shared here, I had to. Please, chose the 1080p60hd.

Track: Magny Cours F1
Car: DOHCZ 1976 Honda Civic

French version ==>

So here we are, it's 11h30am, the bumper is chromed at least and just like every years, a flood is expected all the way down to the track... But however when you gotta go, you gotta go !

I can not help but think about my Japanese friends who often have no alternative but to ride on wet track. Besides, according to some professional drivers, their rain tires are just bluffing! From my side, my 205 wide Yokohama A048 will get the job done (I hope). Rather than face the highway and its terrible connections of hell 500 km (yes I swear! It is a hassle with the camber and offset!), I decided to go through the back roads, anyway I will not go much slower. (yes I talk to myself there is no music!)

Once at destination (finally!), I could see a very familiar head, good old William the W.Autosport boss, the undisputed specialist about Nissan in France. This is also within its walls than the Civic and myself spent the night after having swallowed a good burger with a completely unreasonable amounts of fries with the friends from the 60. Many thanks to William and Severine for their warm welcome! m (_ _) m

Well well well, truces nonsense! Let's get into the nitty-gritty, the track! Magny-Cours Classics Days all that ... Bah voila, here we are, this is the big day and as expected it's raining! Well that's it and we can do nothing ... I did not have a lot of mods to compare with from the last time so whatever. The sessions were more or less wet but never really soaked! Apart from this one where we were not really many ... on the track.

So not even a shadow of concern, apart from a noise that makes me think that the rockers 230000 km olds are beginning to tire a bit.

Unfortunately not keen enough at registration, I could not put myself into the usual group, and thus pull the floss with friends, it's only a postponement! This does not stop me any time to have fun like crazy! (thank you Gregory the cameraman at the moment). I allowed myself this little montage where we clearly see that ... Pantera works well !

I have not taken any laptimes but most important is that I have really enjoyed it and giving fun to the crow was (believe me) as cool ! About that, seeing people standing up to greet the car in the cooling lap was ... really, really ... really very moving! (a little too much maybe ...)

I also wish to greet all the curious people who came to talk with me, it's always a pleasure to share with passionate people. Then obviously friends of long dates who will recognize them-self.

And while we are in the acknowledgments, a huge thank you to the photographers! Your photos are a great help. Including those in corners where you can get an idea of how the suspension work! Do not hesitate to visit their respective pages.

This week-end a friend of mine came to make few upgrades to his ED7 (EF3 in Japan) : New oil pan, oil cooler + oil pressure indicator and... Skunk 2 Pro Series upper control arms.

So what a better place to the Nürburgring Nordschleife for testing theses improvements ? Here we go, heading to the most famous German road.

Just for information, here is the Civic setup:

-DOHC ZC
-Bilstein B8 dampers
-H&R springs F. 4,6 kg/mm R. 4,0 kg/mm
-Skunk 2 pro series upper control arms
-Energy Suspension bushings
-EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
-RBF 600 brake fluid
-Braided brake lines kit
- 195/50/15 Yokohama A048.
-Supersprint 4-2-1 header
-Aftermarket 50mm steal exhaust system
-K&n sport air filter

Here we go for a lap at the wheel !

After a lap from my friend, he made me drive his car (thank you Sir for this ;) ). The car felt very easy to drive so you could have plenty of confidence hoping from a corner to an other. The brakes never fad even if to me, the pedal feeling could be improved. Anyway, after having had some fun in the first part of the track, it was time to dive in the notorious Caracciola Karussell corner, then this... Happened. In order to avoid this in the future, a custom spacer will be build.

Even having torque well the setting bolts, the upper knuckle plate slipped away from its initial position. We had few laugh as we knew this had to occurs. Fortunately it wasn't in a high speed corner ! After having tighten much more above the 12 lb-ft asked by Skunk 2 for the setting bolts, we could have another lap with my friend at the wheel. Thank you for letting me test the Civic, it was a pretty good day.

English version ==>
